Tile: Chief Supervising Radiation Therapist - Vassar Brothers Medical Center Radiation Oncology UROC (Ulster Radiation Oncology Center) - Kingston, NY. Full Time/40 hours per week, variable 8 hour shifts between 7:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
Summary: Responsible for coordinating the overall day-to-day activities and operations of the department including supervision of radiation therapists and clerical and support staff. Responsible for performing technical duties, enforcing established departmental and hospital policies and procedures in order to provide high quality and efficient patient care. Supervise and assure accurate and safe treatment is delivered consistently by therapists. Serve as the patient advocate ensuring optimal patient care and patient satisfaction. Promote team environment and positive attitudes among the health care team, including therapists, physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and administration.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervises therapists and support staff. Sets performance and competency standards, conducts staff performance evaluations and annual therapist competencies to provide coaching, feedback and recognition on job performance on an ongoing and timely basis. Participates in the hiring process, provides orientation, on-going training and education, implements disciplinary actions, and other related activities.
2. Implements and continuously reviews clinical practice standards as relates to treatment modalities and delivery. Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical safety and quality measures, patient and staff satisfaction and/or efficiency outcomes.
3. Assists in preparation of operational budget for supplies and salary budget for therapy and support staff.
4. Coordinates weekly radiation oncology patient chart rounds- ensuring a multidisciplinary team attends to discuss all patients. Coordinates PI Meetings.
5. Monitors compliance of department policies & procedures ensuring regulatory agency guidelines are maintained. Monitor policies and procedures to create standardization between sites.
6. Maintains required department records, reports, and statistics and staff licensure requirements.
7. Maintains knowledge of billing practices and oversees billing processes to ensure billing accuracy and oversees daily billing audits.
8. As needed, performs radiation therapy duties and procedures as staffing and workload dictates.
9. Participates in technology and EMR development and assures maximum use of technology.
10. Works collaboratively with physicians of WCMG-radiation oncologists, to ensure the highest level of patient care.
11. Works in partnership with medical oncology to resolve any issues related to patient scheduling.
12. Learns and applies new advances in treatment technology and assists other staff members in training. Practice continuing education and fulfills all state and national compliance responsibilities.
13. As needed, performs radiation therapy duties and procedures as staffing and workload dictates.
14. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
