Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York.
 
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the charge nurse facilitates and coordinates patient services specific to the age of the patient population served in the Emergency Department. He/she ensures that quality services are provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Graduate
Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred
 
Work Experience:
Minimum 2 years prior computer-data entry skills preferred .
Prior medical setting experience in physician office, hospital etc. preferred
 
Physical & Other Factors:
Long periods of sitting - Prolonged exposure to computer screen - Some physical exertion assisting with patient transport
 
Work & Environmental Conditions:
Exposed to patient elements and handling of emergencies. Exposed to the stress of emergency department activity and critical patient incidents.
 
Job Relationships (Responsible to/for, works with):
Responsible to the Director of Emergency Services, reports to the Charge Nurse.
 
Works effectively with members of the health care team, administrative personnel, and maintains cooperative working relationships intra and inter-departmentally.

 

Working Conditions:

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
