Description

Summary:

Responsible for all accountabilities of Level 1 and 2 Patient Access Liaison and provides training and guidance to staff. The Patient Access 3 position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor or Manager in the daily operations of the Patient Access Department. This position acts as a resource to ensure staff adheres to all state, federal, and organizational registration requirements. This position will lead by example and promote a positive team environment. Working hours may include weekend, evenings, overnight, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs all responsibilities of the Level 1 & 2 Patient Access Liaison positions. 2. Leads by being an effective, positive role model for staff and promotes a team environment. Promotes positive interdepartmental relationships to enhance services to all customers. 3. Assists in assessment, implementation and monitoring of new processes, ideas, goals and objectives. 4. Assists with supervision, guidance, and training to level 1, 2 and 3 patient access employees and support staff. Responsible for overseeing the department's operations in the absence of the department supervisor. 5. Communicates efficiently with all staff and keeps the Manager / Supervisor / Coordinator aware of all departmental matters. 6. Contributes to the design and flow of all processes and procedures with the Patient Access Departments. 7. When applicable, assists in all Patient Access Service areas including Scheduling, Financial Counseling, Cashiering, Outpatient, Emergency Room, Admitting, Pre-Registration, On Call, and accepts changes in work assignments as requested by the management team. 8. Conducts regular audits to ensure the accuracy of registration information including demographic information, financial information, etc. 9. Maintains and balances necessary petty cash to properly service and receive payments. 10. Answers patient inquiries regarding their liability and able to explain the variables involved. 11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Information:

Education: Essential: HS Diploma with minimum of 3-5 years job related experience. Associates degree with minimum 3 years job-related experience. Bachelor's Level Degree, with minimum 3 years experience, preferred. PAL2 Preferred. Other Information: Basic MS Word & MS Excel. Customer service and organizational skills. Criteria Desired: National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification within one year of hire.
