Description
The Pharmacy Technician 3 will assist pharmacists in the formulation, preparation,
dispensing, delivery, and storage of medications and pharmaceutical supplies, including
biohazardous products. The pharmacy technician will ensure that products and services are provided in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner according to department policies, procedures, and practice standards supporting inpatient and outpatient services within Nuvance Health.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Handle, pull, label, package, compound, and deliver medications to patients or authorized
personnel as instructed by the pharmacist.
2. Help maintain medication and supply inventory.
3. Identify, pull, and dispose of expired medications as needed
4. Clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and printer management.
5. Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory requirements, such as completing
and reviewing audits such as managing temp logs, cleaning logs, unit inspections, etc.
6. Manage automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) inventory by utilizing reports from the main
console and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
7. Refilling and managing expiration dates of code carts, kits, medication trays, etc.
8. Handle and deliver controlled medications by following all state & federal regulations and
departmental policies.
9. Triage phone calls and transfer calls to the pharmacist for any medication-related questions.
10. Navigate electronic medical record (EMR) as it relates to missing medications and
charges/billing.
11. Understanding the identification, handling, storage, and of hazardous medications (USP800,
NIOSH, OSHA, and departmental policy).
12. Comply with all USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800 requirements in the compounding of
sterile and nonsterile products by following all departmental policies & procedures involving
technique, training, testing, and personal hygiene.
13. In addition to performing sterile and non-sterile compounding of non-hazardous products,
can fully perform all compounding of sterile and non-sterile compounding biohazardous
products.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Minimum Experience: 1 year
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
Desired: Pharmacy Technician experience. Computer skills, ability to multi-task and work
independently
License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
1. PTCB Certification
2. License: Registered Pharmacy Technician with NY Board of Pharmacy
