Description

Summary:

Supports the Technical Specialist Supervisor in the performance and oversight of tasks that enhance the operations of the oncology laboratory. Ensures oversight of day to day operations to include appropriate staffing, observation of workflow and adherence to applicable registration and order entry functions. 

Responsibilities:

1. Performs the duties of the Oncology Technical Assistant/Phlebotomist.;

2. Assists the Technical Specialist Supervisor with oversight of the laboratory and registration area.

3. Assists the Technical Specialist Supervisor with the implementation of new procedures and monitors adherence to meet regulatory requirements.

4. Collaborates with the Technical Specialist Supervisor in coordinating the proficiency testing program ensuring that all testing is rotated amongst performing staff.

5. Assists with oversight of daily QC, temperature monitoring etc. on a daily basis and notifies Technical Specialist Supervisor of any inconsistencies or unacceptable results.

6. Performs routine, stat and point of care testing of patient samples according to established procedures to ensure timely and accurate results. Forwards critical result samples to the main laboratory ;for confirmation.

7. Reviews event logs and forwards communication in a timely manner that allows for proper follow up of concerns and issues.

8. Monitors and stocks supplies.

9. Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.

10. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

11. Performs other duties as required.

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
