Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.
Purpose: Coordinates and oversees the daily technical operation of the Respiratory Care Services Department under the direction of the Department Director and Clinical Specialist. Oversees and coordinates work of department staff, including morning assignments, orientation and training. Assist with in-service education for Department and Hospital employees. Assist with the development of Departmental policies and Procedures; responsible for assuring that supplies are adequately maintained for department needs. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Span of Control: Oversees and coordinates daily operations of the Respiratory Care Department.
Essential Responsibilities:
1.Oversees and coordinates clinical assignments. Ensures adequate staffing and coverage.
2.Responsible for personnel management to include; interviewing and selection of staff, onboarding and training, counseling and disciplinary actions up to and including termination. Completes annual assessments and provides professional coaching and career path guidance.
3.Monitors & improves department protocols including smoking cessation, medication conversions, and weaning.
4.Assists with development, implementation, and training of departmental policies and procedures. Reviews workflows to ensure compliance.
5.Assists with departmental competency training; ensures documentation is accurate and complete.
6.Assists in support and oversight of Blood Gas Laboratory in absence of clinical manager and special procedures lead.
7.Oversee day-to-day operations within span of control, resolving problems as necessary, and ensuring that operations are efficient, compliant, safe, and of the highest possible quality.
8.Responsible for departmental equipment and supplies, ensuring quality appropriateness and efficiency of respiratory care services while remaining budget conscious.
9.Responsible for departmental QA in conjunction with Department Director and Clinical Manager, ensuring quality and adherence to all regulatory agencies including Joint Commission, CAP, and DOH.
10.Optimize workflows within span of control to continually improve quality and efficiency.
11.Comply with all Health Quest and affiliate policies and ensure compliance with all applicable law and regulation.
12.Maintain contemporary professional knowledge and education.
13.Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
14.Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
·A.S Degree from AMA approved School of Respiratory Care.
·Three (3) years of Respiratory Therapist experience in ICU/NICU.
·PREFER: Two (2) years Management experience.
·PREFER: B.S. Respiratory Care
