Research Assistant II - Danbury, CT

Full-time, 40 hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm; flexibility needed

Responsibilities:

  1. Under supervision of the Lab Manager, performs assigned research projects following the Standard Operating Procedures approved in the Lab.
  2. Coordinates collection of data and works with supervisor to ensure reliability.
  3. Expected to attend surgical procedures and procure specimens for the study; may require travel to Danbury and/or Norwalk hospitals.
  4. Ensures on-going compliance with institutional review board policies.
  5. Under supervision of Lab Manager, coordinates collection and processing of various specimens connected to the experimental studies.
  6. Details research activities in the lab book as outlined in the approved Standard Operating Procedures.
  7. Participates in the timely production and maintenance of case report forms, consent forms, and other study documents associated with the research study project.
  8. Prepares written progress reports for approval by supervisor.
  9. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  10. Performs other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Hard-working and self-motivated. Organizational, communication and computer skills. Working knowledge of statistics and research methodology.
  • Minimum Experience: zero to six months
  • Desired: Candidates with 1-2 years previous laboratory experience is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Sedentary/light effort. May exert up to 10 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
