Description
Title: Special Procedures Technician 1 - Norwalk Hospital ECG - Per Diem. 8 hour shifts 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday, including weekend coverage. (Working one day per week)
Summary: Provide complete and accurate analysis and report generation for all non invasive cardiology diagnostic tests excluding echocardiography. After training, will assist the cardiac catheterization laboratory staff with lab and patient preparation.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs stress tests, all types of ambulatory monitoring, EKG's and holter scanning.
2. Prepares patient for testing including medical history and medical data and monitors patients during testing/institutes emergency procedures when necessary. Generates reports for testing performed.
3. Processes EKG's in computer system for final physician reading. Identifies critical results and reports abnormalities when delivering EKG results to Cardiologists.
4. Assures all procedure data is transmitted to data management systems. Edits reports and delivers reports. Troubleshoots system issues and reports issues to IT.
5. Reviews requisitions for accuracy. Identifies order issues prior to testing. Accurately applies billing code to tests performed.
6. Troubleshoots equipment issues with IT and Biomed. Maintains Cardiology equipment. Cleans exam rooms and supplies between patient testing. Educates clinical staff on proper EKG cart maintenance.
7. Participates in promoting quality assurance within the department.
8. Participates in staff meetings and service training.
9. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Information:
Required: High school Diploma/GED, BLS required.
Minimum Experience: 0 - 6 months job related experience.
Desired: Cardiovascular technician experience preferred.
Salary Range: $22.94 - $42.61 hourly (Pay per years of relative experience)
